WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?

Anyone may become a member of Nebraska Innovation Studio. You have the choice of signing up for a monthly, yearly, or semester membership for UNL participants and monthly or yearly for community members. Minor participation is limited. 

POLICIES

STAFF DISCRETION POLICY

Nebraska Innovation Studio is a shared space and takes pride in fostering a culture of safety, respect, and creativity. NIS reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone violating shop policies, operating in an unsafe manner, or being disrespectul to NIS members, equipment, or staff.

NON-MEMBER PARTICIPATION

Guest Policy

Guests are always welcome - but can stay for no more than 15 minutes. Guests must sign a waiver and are not allowed to do anything other than take a quick tour or briefly watch when they are here.

This policy excludes groups utilizing the NIS classroom.

Events & Workshops

Interested in hosting an event? NIS offers events and workshops for all age groups. Please contact InnovationStudio@unl.edu with:

- Number of participants

- Age group of participants

- Anticipated Date

HRC REFUND POLICY

Cancellations more than two weeks from the start date of any HRC program will be refunded in full. Any cancellation within a two week window from the start of an HRC program will not be refunded and instead be credited to the customer entity for any future offering of the same program within 6 Months.

SHOP GUIDELINES

Members are required to comply with the following:

Be kind and respectful at all times.

Shoes must fully enclose feet on all sides.

Any loose-hanging jewelery or clothing must be removed or secured to not hang from your body.

No jackets, hoodies, or backpacks are allowed in the shop space. Storage is available at the front desk.

No headphones are permitted in the wood and metal shop.

No loud music is allowed in shared shop spaces. Be a good neighbor!

Eye protection is provided by the studio and required in wood and metal shop areas.

No running in the Studio.

No weapons or weapon-related paraphernalia (guns, grips, sights, etc.). If you're not sure, ask.

Long hair must be tied back and up. Hair ties are provided by the Studio.

Respect other members and their personal space.

MINORS POLICY

All members must be a minimum 12 years of age.

Members age 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian member at all times.

Minors have access to electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, hand tools, software, and the art studio.

Minors are restricted from access to woodshop and metalworking tools.

Members age 18 and up can gain full access to all equipment after completing each equipment's training.
