Tools and equipment may be reserved for time periods ranging from 15 minutes to 4 days. Your reservation is created through your NIS manager page. Members may use any tool or piece of equipment at any time if no reservation exists.
Most of the equipment at Nebraska Innovation Studio requires each member to take a safety and operational training course before gaining access to that piece of equipment.
Your studio staff and interns will work with you one-on-one for equipment that does not have required training. We will also spend as much time as needed to assist you when using training-required equipment until you are comfortable with both the equipment and how to use it to ensure your projects are successful.
SOP Training's are designed to give you the guidance on how to use the equipment safely but not necessarily how to use that equipment for specific project based functions. Innovation Studio also offers many "skill based" workshops that are designed to assist you in the successful realization of your projects as well as give you the application skills to take what you learned in training and apply it to your projects. In many of these workshops you will actually create something that will help to build your confidence and allow you to realize that you do have the ability to make anything, regardless of your skill level or experience.

Epilog Laser Cutter Training
This 1 hour training is required before gaining access to the Epilog Fusion 40, 32 & Mini laser cutters. Learn the basics of generating a file to send to the lasers, how to operate the lasers, the differences between them, and the basic use of the rotary tool. Members will walk away with a personalized name plate.

Wood Jointer & Planer, & Table Router Training
This 1 hour training is required before gaining access to the wood jointer & planer and table router. In this training you will gain an understanding of the cut settings and operational limitations of each piece of equipment, job and ensure you are operating these machines safely and effectively.

Band Saw, Miter Saw, & Drill Press Training
This 1 hour training is required before gaining access to the band saw, miter saw, & drill press. In this training you will make several cuts using both saws and learn the basics of drilling with our press, the different drill bits we have available and what materials they are used on and ensure you are operating these machines safely and effectively.

Vinyl Cutter Training
This 1 hour training is required before gaining access to the vinyl cutter. Learn the basics of generating a file in Illustrator and Graphtec Studio as well as how to load vinyl, cut your file and create your finished vinyl transfer.

This 1 hour training is required before gaining access to the table and panel saws. In this training you will make several cuts on both saws and understand their basic operation and ensure you are operating these machines safely and effectively.

Shopbot CNC Router Training
This training is required before gaining access to the Shopbot 4'x8' CNC router. In this training you will learn to code tool paths for the router using VCarve Pro as well as how to operate the CNC router.
You must complete the Carvey Desktop CNC Training before taking the Shopbot Training.

Carvey Desktop CNC Router Training
This training is required before gaining access to the Desktop CNC router. In this training you will learn to code tool paths for the router using Easel software as well as how to operate the CNC router.
You must complete the Carvey Desktop CNC Training before taking the Shopbot Training.

Silkscreen Training
This 1 hour training will guide you through the creation and application of a silkscreen. You will learn how to print your image, apply emulsion, set up your screen, apply ink, clean and remove your image from the screen, and operate our 4 station press.

3D Printer Training
These 2 separate 1 hour trainings are required before gaining access to the Ultimaker 2+ and 3-Extended as well as the Formlab and Markforged printers. We will review the printer software and demonstrate how to upload your files and operate the equipment. You must first complete training on the Ultimaker printers before gaining access to the Formlab and Markforged printer training. This training does not cover design software.

Wood Lathe Training Workshop Phase 1, 2 & 3 $60.00
This 3 phase fee based ($60) workshop will guide you through the use of our mini lathes to make a pen & bottle stopper, then you will move on to our large lathe to make a spindle and a bowl. In order to be certified on our lathes you must sign up for all 3 workshops consecutively and complete them in this order:
Pen & Bottle Stopper-mini lathe: Spindle-large lathe: Bowl-large lathe

Long Arm Quilter Training
In this 4 hour training workshop you will learn how to thread the machine, set up your fabric, learn the manual and automatic stitching functions and begin stitching a design. The training also covers many "tips & tricks" from an expert quilter. You can sew up to a 14' Quilt on the APQS millennium long arm quilting machine.
